Soccer

Many local public schools have open soccer fields that are used primarily by youth teams.

Ann Arbor Soccer Association (AASA). Organizes open and women’s recreational leagues Apr.-Oct. Most games are played by seven-member teams on a half-size field using half-size goals. Seasons last seven to eight weeks; teams play two nights a week (Mon. & Wed. or Tues. & Thurs.) at Fuller Park; $75 fee. A co-rec league plays spring & summer Fri. nights on a full-size field with 11-member teams; $55 fee. Sand volleyball. Rec & Ed runs doubles and quad women's, men's, and co-rec leagues in three skills levels in the summer. Sand courts are available for public use and for pickup games outside the U-M Pierpont Commons, and at Elbel Field at Division & Hill. Nearby parks with sand courts include Hudson Mills Metropark, Independence Lake County Park, and the Pinckney Recreation Area (at Silver Lake); see Regional and State Parks, above.
