Matches low-income mothers with a birth and postpartum doula. Birth doulas attend the birth and provide 3 prenatal visits and 3 postpartum visits. Postpartum doulas provide at least 8 hours of in-home support. Volunteer doulas welcome, especially bilingual women; some scholarships for doula training. Services free for qualifying low-income women; sliding fee scale for others. "Dial a Doula" program provides on-call doulas to women and their families at the U-M Women's Hospital Birth Center for those who desire a doula.
