NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Washtenaw County
Aims to improve the lives of persons affected by mental illness, including individuals suffering or recovering from mental illness and their family and friends. Educational meetings, support groups, outreach to schools and churches, newsletter, and a team that works with local police. Support groups include separate meetings for persons with mental illness, their family and friends, and parents of children and adolescents with mental illness, as well as a zen meditation group. Postpartum Depression Support Group
Support group facilitated by five volunteers who work with pregnant and parenting women, to support women in their recovery from postpartum depression. Information and discussion on topics such as symptoms and feelings, self-care, support systems, and myths of motherhood. Babies, partners, family members, and friends are welcome.
