Directions: The SJMHS campus is between Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti in Superior Township. AATA bus routes 3 and 6 serve the main hospital entrance. From US-23, take exit 37A, Washtenaw eastbound (toward Ypsilanti), and turn left onto either Golfside or Hewitt; then cross Clark Rd. and follow signs. From central or southern Ann Arbor, take Washtenaw, Packard, or Ellsworth eastbound, and turn left onto Golfside or Hewitt. From northeast Ann Arbor, take Geddes Rd. east from Huron Pkwy., and turn right on Dixboro Rd., left on McAuley.
Description: St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, a 537-bed acute care hospital, offers complete medical and surgical inpatient and outpatient care, including cardiology, cancer care, obstetrics and other women’s and children’s health services (including a neonatal intensive care unit), physical medicine and rehabilitation, orthopedics, neurosciences, senior health, emergency services, home care, and hospice.
The main hospital is being rebuilt. A new surgery pavilion, completed in 2006, features 18 new surgical suites, 12 additional patient preparation and recovery bays, and an expanded family waiting area. The first of two new patient towers opened in Oct. 2007. The second tower will open in 2010. No interruptions in service or bed availability are expected.
Saint Joseph Mercy Health System is a member of Novi-based Trinity Health, whose sponsor, Catholic Health Ministries, is an entity established by the Catholic Church to oversee the healing ministry and Catholic identity of Trinity Health. Trinity Health is the fourth largest Catholic health care system in the U.S. with 43 hospitals in California, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan and Ohio.
Parking and shuttle service: Parking at all patient facilities is free. All lots have reserved senior and handicapped spaces. Free shuttle buses with handicapped lifts stop at parking lots, shelters, and building entrances. Buses run Mon.–Fri. 6:30 a.m.–9 p.m. and Sat. & Sun. 9 a.m.–5 p.m. AATA routes 3 and 7 also serve the campus.
