Despite Ann Arbor's "four seasons a day" weather, its numerous parks and sports venues provide ample opportunity to work up a sweat, or just get out and about. The Calendar covers them all.

"The Civilized Ride": Ann Arbor Bicycle Touring Society.

Every Mon. Slow-paced ride, 12-18 miles, to Dexter, with a possible stop for ice cream. Every Tues. Moderate-paced ride, 20-35 miles, along flat, relatively quiet picturesque roads south of Ann Arbor. English Country Dancing: Ann Arbor Community of Traditional Music and Dance.

Every Tues. Historical and traditional English dancing. Today: Ray Bantle and Shirley Harden call to music by Childgrove. Every Wed. Moderate/fast-paced 25-mile and slow-paced, 13-18 miles, rides to the Dexter Dairy Queen and back. Now in its 32nd year, this ride is a favorite with newcomers and casual riders. "Exploring American BBQ": Zingerman's Roadhouse.

Zingerman's Roadhouse chef Alex Young hosts a dinner featuring barbecued pork, pork ribs, and Texas beef brisket using meat from old breeds of cattle and hogs bred by Niman Ranch (Thornton, IA) and local farmers using sustainable practices. Wednesdays @ Michigan Union: Swing Ann Arbor.

"Dexter Breakfast Ride": Ann Arbor Bicycle Touring Society.

Every Sat. except July 11. Beginner-friendly slow-paced (22 miles) and moderate/fast-paced (30 to 80 miles) round-trip rides to the Dexter Bakery. A very popular ride. Also, after the bakery stop, a fast/moderate-paced swim extension ride (40 to 60 miles) continues to Silver Lake for a swim. On July 11 is the popular annual AABTS "One Helluva Ride" (see listing). Also, at sunrise at Wheeler Park only, "Sunrise Saturday Ride," a very slow-paced 22-mile ride (662-0205) to Dexter for breakfast and back. Note: Riders should be prepared to take care of themselves on all AABTS rides.
