Nightspots

Sunday Oct 14, 2012

Blind Pig: Ben Sollee

A former member of Abigail Washburn’s Sparrow Quartet, Sollee is a singer-songwriter and classically trained cellist whose music draws on Appalachian, chamber pop, jazz, and blues idioms. “I never expect to see the cello in one piece after Ben gets done playing it,” says My Morning Jacket frontman Yim Yames. “He bows and beats it and works it over with a passionate fury rarely seen.” Opening acts are Luke Reynolds, a Brooklyn-based alt- country singer-songwriter best known as the frontman of Blue Merle and Pictures in Sound who is currently a member of the rootsy, rock ‘n’ roll quartet Guster. Advance tickets: $15. [venue info]

Conor O'Neill's: Traditional Irish Session
