Circus: Luke Winslow-King Luke Winslow-King

Cadillac-bred Americana singer-songwriter and guitarist who currently lives in New Orleans. His latest CD, Old/New Baby (Fox on a Hill), was named a Top 10 Album of 2009 in the American Songwriter magazine editors poll, and OffBeat magazine says it “captures the allure of a speakeasy, the swagger of old Dixie, and the simple good-time charm of Western swing.” [venue info]

Gandy Dancer: James Dapogny Quartet

Vintage pop and jazz standards, along with lesser known tunes from the 1920s and 30s, by this local ensemble led by U-M music professor Dapogny, a renowned early-jazz pianist. [venue info]

Veteran Chicago singer-songwriter whose music draws on delta blues, jug band, ragtime, string band, post-war jump, and rockabilly idioms.
