The Ark: John Jorgenson Quintet

Gypsy jazz standards and originals by this ensemble led by singer-guitarist Jorgenson, a founding member of the Desert Rose Band and the Hellecasters who's a recognized pioneer in the revival of the music of Django Reinhardt--Jorgenson even portrayed Reinhardt in the 2004 film Head in the Clouds. $20. The Blind Pig: Dante

Local hip-hop MC. Opening acts are Ypsilanti hip-hop MC Yoshi, the Detroit hip-hop MC D. Allie, and Celsius Electronics, a local hip-hop ensemble featuring members of Tree City. [venue info]

Conor O'Neill's: Kris K Trio.

Local trio led by singer-guitarist Kris Kurzawa that plays jazz, soul, and avant-funk covers and originals. [venue info]

Crazy Wisdom Tea Room: Thom Jayne & the Nomads

Acoustic ambient septet from Okemos whose music blends elements of world music and jazz. [venue info]

Elbow Room: The Disregarded

Self-styled "dirt-hop" quartet from Oakville who blend American roots music with urban rap and gospel-tinged choruses. Opening acts are Devil Elvis, an Ypsilanti rockabilly singer-songwriter, and Las Drogas, an Ypsilanti band that plays loud, raucous, melodic, bluesy surf-guitar rockabilly. [venue info]

Guy Hollerin's: Alberta Adams.

This veteran Detroit blues shouter and balladeer has toured with everyone from Louis Jordan and LaVern Baker to Duke Ellington and Roy Eldridge. Known for what one critic called "an earthy, world-weary voice which hints of a past filled with hound-dog men and hard-luck stories," she is backed by R.J.'s Rhythm Rockers, a Detroit blues band led by drummer R.J.
