June 12-July 5. A beloved summer tradition continues this year on Ingalls Mall and features music by local or area bands. The music is followed at 10 p.m. (Sun.-Thurs.) by free movies and at 10:30 p.m. (Fri.) by dancing to DJs. Also, a KidZone tent (6:30-8 p.m.) with hands-on activities for kids. Food concessions from area restaurants. Tonight: MC Frontalot (8:30 p.m.), a proudly nerdy New York City-based hip-hop artist who wears a tie and a pocket protector and raps about Web comics, computer games, blogs, and picking up chicks at Star Wars conventions. Opening act is The OneUps (7 p.m.), an Arkansas band that plays video game music. Note: MC Frontalot (June 28) and the OneUps (June 27) are also at the Ann Arbor District Library over the past weekend (see listings). The music is followed at 10 p.m. by The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, Seth Gordon's 2007 documentary about diehard gamers who compete to break world records on classic arcade games.

Food concessions from area restaurants. Tonight: Kentucky Chrome (8:30 p.m.), a local rockabilly band that features former members of the Starlight Drifters and the Juke Joint Johnnies. Opening act is SumKali (7 p.m.), a local band that plays Indian classical and folk music. With dance by local Odissi dancers Ishika and Kritika Rajan. Also, a South Asian Mela (6:30-8 p.m.), with a BollyFit dance demonstration (7:40 p.m.) and other activities. The music is followed at 10 p.m. by Raising Arizona, the Coen brothers' 1987 offbeat comedy starring Nicolas Cage and Holly Hunter as a childless couple who kidnap one of a set of quintuplets.

The music is followed at 10 p.m. (Sun.-Thurs.) by free movies and at 10:30 p.m. (Fri.) by dancing to DJs. Also, a KidZone tent (6:30-8 p.m.) with hands-on activities for kids. Food concessions from area restaurants. Tonight: Hot Club of Detroit (7 p.m.), a popular jazz quartet that plays in the style of the great Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt. Followed at 10 p.m. by 2 short films and The Triplets of Belleville, Sylvain Chomet's 2002 animated film, at once goofy and frightening, about 3 aged eccentric female music hall stars who befriend an old woman and her dog as they help her search for her kidnapped grandson. Tonight is also "Bike Night." Attendees are encouraged to bike to Ingalls Mall. The Summer Festival also includes a series of Power Center and Hill Auditorium shows on July 1-4 (see listings).

Tonight: That 1 Guy (8:30 p.m.), the stage name of Mike Silverman, a Berkeley-based classically trained bassist who has created his own instrument, the "Magic Pipe," a "system of electronically wired steel plumbing, shaped somewhat like a harp, with a thick bass string wired from top to bottom and a hole that billows smoke during the climax of his live shows," according to his website. Opening act is Strange Arrangement (7 p.m.), a progressive indie rock quartet from Chicago. The music is followed at 10 p.m. by Quantum of Solace, Marc Forster's 2008 James Bond flick about 007's quest to stop an alleged environmentalist from taking control of a large chunk of Bolivia. Food concessions from area restaurants. Tonight: Bugs Beddow Band (9 p.m.), a versatile Detroit ensemble led by trombonist Beddow that plays horn-driven R&B, boogie-rock, blues, and jazz. Opening act is Copper Box (7 p.m.), a Wisconsin quartet that plays an accordion-heavy mix of rock, polka, blues, and zydeco. The bands are followed at 10:30 p.m. by dancing to music spun by DJ Del Villarreal.

July 4 & 5. The nation's longest-running Camaro-only show features several hundred vintage to brand-new models on display. This year's show features the 2010 Camaro. Numerous awards for original, restored, street, and modified models. All invited to enter their Camaros ($15-$25). Swap and vendor areas. Raffle. Food available. Proceeds benefit the National Kidney Foundation.

This popular community celebration is now in its 19th year. The parade lineup features antique cars, baton twirlers, jugglers, magicians, /fire trucks, and a diverse mix of more than 40 local groups, families,/ and dignitaries, ranging from members of the Skyline High Marching Band to/ the Backwards Clown Brigade. The parade begins at State and William and proceeds north on State, west down Liberty, south on Main, and west up William back to its starting point.

Food concessions from area restaurants. Tonight: George Bedard & the Kingpins (7:30 p.m.), a popular local honky-tonk band that plays blues, rockabilly, swing, and roots music. Opening act is Madcat & Kane (5 p.m.), a nationally acclaimed local duo of world-class harmonica wizard Peter Madcat Ruth and ace fingerstyle blues guitarist Shari Kane. The music is followed at 10 p.m. by The Sound of Music, Robert Wise's perennially popular 1965 film adaptation of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical, set in Austria on the eve of WW II, about the Von Trapp family's singing governess. Julie Andrews. Attendees are encouraged to dress in costumes inspired by the film and participate in the preshow contest & parade.
