The Ann Arbor Art Fairs.

July 15-18. Our perennial tent city within a city houses 1,000 artists, from Michigan and around the nation, in 4 separate fairs. Entertainment includes live music and other performances on four stages, along with daily 1:30 p.m. organ concerts at the Michigan Theater. Today's entertainment schedule: Ingalls Mall: Clogging by the Cottonwood Cloggers (11 a.m.). Burton Tower carillon concert (noon). Celtic music by Daughters of New Grass (1 p.m.). Latin and swing dancing by the EMU Ballroom Dancers (2 p.m.). Standard and contemporary jazz by the EMU Jazz Combo (3 p.m.). Celtic, Appalachian, Cajun, Scandinavian, and bluegrass by singer-banjoist-dobro player Laurel Premo (4 p.m.). Chris Genteel (5 p.m.), a local singer-songwriter whose music blends rock, jazz, and hip-hop. Classical and folk music by local indie pop-folk singer-songwriter Charlene Kaye (6 p.m.). Branch Out Collective (7 p.m.), the combination of local hip-hop duo Celsius Electronics and local hip-hop collective Tree City. Soul, afrobeat, and jazz by Yo!Soul (8 p.m.), the stage name of My Dear Disco keyboardist Joey Dosik. Liberty at Ashley: Soul, pop, & blues by Detroit singer-songwriter Pato (12:30-1:30 p.m.). Acoustic pop-rock by Detroit singer-songwriter Brien Patrick (2-3 p.m.). Local futuristic retro rock trio The Ultrasounds (5-6 p.m.). Techno music spun by DJ Seoul and T. Linder (8-9 p.m.). U-M Museum of Art: Old-time jug band The Raisin Pickers (1-3 p.m.). Willard at Church: Local and area artists from the Homegrown show on Ann Arbor's 107one. The indie-folk band Nathan K (3-3:45 p.m.), the local indie folk-rock trio Note to Self (4-5 p.m.), the immensely popular local jam band the Macpodz (5:15-6:15 p.m.), the Lansing singer-songwriter duo Nervous But Excited (6:30-7:30 p.m.), and the inventive local country-rock band The Ragbirds (8-9 p.m.). downtown Ann Arbor. U-M Exhibit Museum Planetarium.

Daily (except July 4). Four different audiovisual planetarium shows. The Sky Tonight (1:30 & 3:30 p.m. daily) is an exploration of the current night sky. The Zula Patrol (12:30 p.m. weekdays) is an animated exploration of weather, both terrestrial and interplanetary. MarsQuest (2:30 p.m. weekdays and 12:30 p.m. Sat.), narrated by Star Trek star Patrick Stewart, is about the history of the Red Planet and the reasons for our interest in it. Followed by a brief update on current issues about Mars. Origins of Life (2:30 p.m. Sat. only) is an audiovisual show about the prebiotic chemistry of the Universe after the Big Bang, the formation of the stars and solar systems, the first life on Earth, the great extinctions, and the search for extraterrestrial life.
