Winter Interpretive Nature Programs: Hudson Mills Metropark.

Presented by park naturalists Jennifer Hollenbeck or Raejean Uehline.

Dec. 1: (8 a.m.): �Bird Hike.� Bring binoculars and a field guide.

Dec. 9 (10 a.m. and 12:30 & 2:30 p.m.): �Santa Central.� Kids invited to visit with Santa, play reindeer games, and enjoy a hayride. Snack. $6 per child (adults, $3; kids under age 1, free) in advance only.

Jan. 26 (11 a.m.-2 p.m.): �Chillin� at the Mills.� A variety of winter activities, including (weather permitting) cross-country skiing, Klondike racing and dog sledding demos, and more. Afterward, an indoor craft activity and hot chocolate. $2 ($6 includes lunch).

Feb. 9 (11 a.m.): �Live! Birds of Prey.� Howell Nature Center representatives present a program on birds of prey that includes displays of live hawks, owls, falcons, and vultures. $5 (kids, $3).

This German immigrant pioneer homestead comes alive with the sights, sounds, and smells of a rural 1880s Michigan Christmas. Also, the log house features 1840s d�cor. Singers perform traditional holiday songs, and a blacksmith works at the forge. This year's festival features a traditional Christmas program at the one-room Dewey School. Docent-guided tours of the 2-story brick farmhouse and of the school. Refreshments.

Free Introductory Class: The Children's Music Academy.

The Children's Music Academy is providing a free group music lesson once a month on Saturday mornings. It will be approximately 1 hour, starting promptly at 10am. This class is appropriate for 4 1/2 year olds to 7 year olds. One parent must be in attendance for the entire session.
Snacks and drinks will be provided, questions about our curriculum, group and private lessons will be answered! We provide private instruction for piano and voice from age 5 to adult. Group lessons are a general music course with concentration on piano skills.

Origami Meetup Group: Beth Johnson Origami.

This is an open origami session for those interested in meeting and learning from other paper folders. There will be no formal instruction, but the organizer, Beth Johnson, can provide help with folding a variety of models, from beginner to highly complex. Possible topics and techniques to explore include getting started in origami, folding techniques, choosing the right paper, wet folding, designing models, tessellations, crease patterns, origami computer programs, and so on. If possible, please bring models you have folded or instructions for models you would like to fold, and bring books to share and talk about. Some paper will be available, but please bring your own as well. The session is free and open to the public and the suggested age is 12 and above.

The Choral Union Messiah, featuring a thunderous sing-along of the �Hallelujah� Chorus, has been an Ann Arbor tradition ever since organist (and U-M president) Henry Frieze led an impromptu community chorus in the spring of 1879, a performance that led to the formation of both the Choral Union and the UMS.
