Fine Arts Historic Preservation, Restoration & Repurposing--OLLI Study Group: Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at U-M (50+).

This fascinating course will acquaint you with the ways historic buildings are being improved and even saved. Bradley Cambridge and Richard Renaud, with Ann Arbor�s nationally known Quinn Evans Architects, will explain the differences between restoration, preservation and renovation. They will describe the blending of these methods to meet the needs of current building codes, modern technology, energy efficiency and interior standards mandated by the Federal government. Learn about the role of the architect in guidance and decision making. They will illustrate with significant examples of this work including UM�s Hill Auditorium, the Knapp Centre in Lansing and the Colorado State Capitol Dome.

Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement Class: Michigan Feldenkrais.

In September and October, we will explore Feldenkrais lessons for the feet and feet.
Hands and feet will be the overall theme. Lessons will:
� help you create soft, flexible feet
� organize your feet for better support and more power
� connect the hands and feet to core power and support
� use movements of the hand to bring a relaxed quality to the entire self
Useful for a variety of foot, ankle, hand, and wrist problems.
The hands and feet are richly represented in the body image. It will be a fascinating process to explore how working with the extremities has myriad effects on the rest of oneself.
As with all my classes, I will provide access to audio recordings if you wish to practice the movement lessons between classes.

Lewy Body Dementia affects 1.3 million Americans, second only to Alzheimer's Disease in prevalence, and yet few people have heard of it. Holiday Harmony Chorus: Voices in Harmony.

Every Tues., Sept. 18-Dec. 11. All women are invited to participate in an a cappella chorus for the holidays. It is customary to form a Holiday Chorus, inviting friends, family and interested women from the community to perform on the show and at other holiday performances.
Participation is free. No charge for music or learning media, and no audition requirement. There is no obligation of a long-term or permanent membership in the chorus.

Teens Using Drugs: What To Know and What To Do: Dawn Farm.

"Teens Using Drugs: What To Know and What To Do" is a FREE, ongoing, two-part series. Part 1 provides information on how to recognize and understand adolescent substance abuse. Part 2 provides information on what should and should not be done to help when a teen substance abuse problem is recognized, and concludes with a short talk by a young person in recovery. The series is presented by Dawn Farm and Growth Works therapists, and is co-sponsored by Dawn Farm, the Livingston and Washtenaw Regional Coordinated School Health Program Advisory Team, and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System Greenbrook Recovery Center. All workshops are free and open to all. The presentations are targeted primarily to parents and caretakers of teens, but are also inclusive of teens, family members, people who work with teens, students, and anyone interested in attending for any reason.
