Volunteer Stewardship Workday: Ann Arbor Natural Area Preservation Division.

Aug. 7, 21, & 28. All invited to help city staff maintain the natural areas in various city parks. Also, staffers lead a short nature walk at the end of each workday. Minors must be accompanied by an adult or obtain a release form in advance. Aug. 7: Dolph Nature Area (9 a.m.-noon, parking lot on the east side of Wagner between Liberty & Jackson) to clear trails and spread woodchips. Aug. 21: Scarlett Mitchell Woods (9 a.m.-noon, meet at Scarlett Middle School parking lot, 3300 Lorraine off Platt south of Packard), Narrow Gauge Nature Area (1-4 p.m., meet at Narrow Gauge Way at Green Rd. south of Glazier Way), and/or Furstenberg Nature Area (1-4 p.m., meet in the parking lot off Fuller Rd. across from Huron High School) to remove invasive plants. Aug. 28: Oakridge Nature Area (9 a.m.-noon, U-M parking lot, Glazier Way at Huron Pkwy.) and/or �Leslie Woods� (1-4 p.m., meet at the park entrance at the north end of Upland Dr. off Plymouth Rd.) to remove invasive plants. U-M Exhibit Museum Planetarium.

Daily (except July 4) beginning July 1. Five different audiovisual planetarium shows.

The Sky Tonight (11:30 a.m. Sat., 1:30 & 3:30 p.m. Sat. & Sun., and 11:30 & 3:30 p.m. Mon.-Fri.) is an exploration of the current night sky.

The Little Star That Could (12:30 p.m. Mon.-Fri.) is about an average yellow star on a search for a planet of its own to warm who meets other stars on the way and learns about the Solar System.

Larry Cat in Space (12:30 p.m. Sat.) is a playful cartoon about an inquisitive cat that learns more than it wanted to know about life in space when it stows away on a shuttle to be with its owner, a scientist on her way to the Moon.

Sun, Earth, and Moon (2:30 p.m. Sat. in July) explores the reasons the constellations in the night sky change throughout the year and the moon changes its phase and place in the sky. MarsQuest (2:30 p.m. Sat. in Aug.), narrated by Star Trek star Patrick Stewart, is about the history of the Red Planet and the reasons for our interest in it.

Two Small Pieces of Glass: The Amazing Telescope (2:30 Sun. in July) explores how telescopes work and what they can do. Light Years from Andromeda (2:30 Sun. in Aug.) is an audiovisual show narrated by Star Trek actor Michael Dorn that shows the changes that occurred on Earth during the 2.8 million years it took a light beam to travel from Andromeda.

77th Annual Saline Community Fair.

This old-fashioned community fair features agricultural and craft exhibits, rides, and a variety of special events, including the Miss Saline pageant, the USA Demolition Derby State Finals (Sept. 8, 7 p.m., $12), and more.

Aug. 28: animal judging (9 & 10 a.m. and 6 & 7 p.m.), the Miss Saline Pageant (8 p.m.), and a movie TBA (dusk).

Aug. 29: youth rabbit show (9 a.m.), goat judging (1 p.m.), senior citizens program (1 p.m.), antique appraisals (2-4 p.m.), feeder calf & steer judging (6 p.m.), Ag Olympics (6 p.m.).

Come breathe, strengthen, and stretch with us! Yoga Awakening is a beginner to intermediate slow yoga flow class. Ann Arbor Cooks! Culinary Bootcamp I.

The key to great cooking boils down to solid technique and great ingredients. Join us for this intensive journey through the basics -- the end result is greater kitchen confidence and less reliance on recipes!
Each class will feature a full arsenal of dishes utilizing the techniques learned -- we will work with the very best cuts of meat, seafood, and produce from local purveyors. Students will work in pairs and prepare everything on the evening's menu providing for a generous amount of practice. Students will then sit down to enjoy the fruits of their labor throughout each class. This is, by far, our most intensive class, but also our most fun! And best of all, no experience is required!
