29th Annual Jim Monaghan Antique Engine Show.

A display of old steam and gas engines, related paraphernalia, and other contraptions. Side attractions include alternative energy devices, a steam-powered row boat, �hit or miss� engines that pop and then run down a bit before popping again, demonstrations of radio-controlled boats, a swap meet, sheep shearing, and more. Free lunch. Music and a campfire in the evening. Also, pony rides, access to the petting farm, and wagon rides available for a small charge.

Stroller Strides Summer Saturdays Kick-Off: Ann Arbor Stroller Strides.

Stroller Strides of Ann Arbor provides a 60 minute total body workout for moms of stroller-age children. Taught by certified instructors (who are also moms), it is a great workout for moms of all fitness levels! We use exercise tubing, the environment, and the stroller for a fun and social exercise program. Children remain in their strollers, but are involved in the workout with songs and drills. This will be part of our BIWEEKLY summer session: 6/16, 6/30, 7/14, 7/28, 8/11, 8/25. We are meeting at the back playground at Gallup Park (over the bridge and all the way near the back parking lot.) Stay afterwards for playing and socializing with other moms and tots! If you are new to Stroller Strides your first class is FREE! Please arrive a few minutes early. Any stroller is acceptable, except for umbrella strollers. Please wear proper footwear (sneakers) and layer in comfortable clothing. Don't forget water and a towel /exercise mat for floor exercises. Topics include bathing, diapering, safety, and much more. We recommend taking this class at the beginning of your third trimester. Ecological Restoration Volunteer Workday: Huron-Clinton Metroparks.

A large brush pile of invasive species -- the result of hard work done by Metroparks volunteers.

Come lend nature a helping hand! Volunteers will remove invasive shrubs (like autumn-olive and buckthorn) from high quality natural areas at Hudson Mills Metropark. Meet at the Rapids View parking lot at 10:00am -- look for the white Metroparks truck. We�ll wrap things up by 1:00pm.

�Hunting Mastodons?�: U-M Museum of Natural History.

Every Sat. & Sun beginning July 11. Family-oriented program featuring a 20-minute interactive demo of some of the evidence of mastodon hunting by the people who lived in Michigan during the last Ice Age, and a chance to make a cast of a Clovis point, a tool that may have been used in hunting mastodons.

U-M Exhibit Museum Planetarium.

Daily (except July 4) beginning July 1. Five different audiovisual planetarium shows.

The Sky Tonight (11:30 a.m. Sat., 1:30 & 3:30 p.m. Sat. & Sun., and 11:30 & 3:30 p.m. Mon.-Fri.) is an exploration of the current night sky.

The Little Star That Could (12:30 p.m. Mon.-Fri.) is about an average yellow star on a search for a planet of its own to warm who meets other stars on the way and learns about the Solar System.

Larry Cat in Space (12:30 p.m. Sat.) is a playful cartoon about an inquisitive cat that learns more than it wanted to know about life in space when it stows away on a shuttle to be with its owner, a scientist on her way to the Moon.

Sun, Earth, and Moon (2:30 p.m. Sat. in July) explores the reasons the constellations in the night sky change throughout the year and the moon changes its phase and place in the sky. MarsQuest (2:30 p.m. Sat. in Aug.), narrated by Star Trek star Patrick Stewart, is about the history of the Red Planet and the reasons for our interest in it.

Two Small Pieces of Glass: The Amazing Telescope (2:30 Sun. in July) explores how telescopes work and what they can do. Light Years from Andromeda (2:30 Sun. in Aug.) is an audiovisual show narrated by Star Trek actor Michael Dorn that shows the changes that occurred on Earth during the 2.8 million years it took a light beam to travel from Andromeda.

Every Fri.-Sun., June 1-Sept. 2. Costumed guides lead tours of the 10-room artifact-filled farmhouse and its outbuildings, including a recently refurbished blacksmith�s workshop. Also, on June 2 & 3 only, �Wetplates at Waterloo,� demonstrations by Wayne photographer Greg Schultz who uses a Victorian-era camera to photograph costumed volunteers and develops the photos on site using the wet plate process. Note: the wet plate process requires fair weather. Demonstrations canceled if weather is inclement.

This comic from Louisville, Kentucky, first gained attention through Revenge on the Telemarketers, a CD containing some of the elaborate stories he had fabricated as pranks to exasperate phone solicitors. His stand-up routines include some stories about these antics, but he�s mainly an observational humorist who draws his material from the oddities and aggravations of everyday life. Aug. 16-18 & 23-25. Forrest Hejkal directs local actors in J.M. Barrie�s haunting play about a girl who, while visiting a remote Scottish island, vanishes for a month. When she returns, she has no memory of being gone, but her disappearance affects her later in life. Like Barrie�s most popular work, Peter Pan, this play revolves around a child�s ambivalence about growing up.
