In recognition of national Mental Health Awareness month in May, Still Waters Counseling, a Saline clinic specializing in treating mental and behavioral disorders, is offering self-help and counseling books for sale at greatly reduced prices. In exchange, each book purchase will go towards a special fund to provide counseling at the clinic for the uninsured or underinsured. From now until the end of May, gently used copies of self-help and children’s books from the clinic’s extensive collection will be available for purchase from the clinic at 137 Keveling Drive, Saline (9.00am to 5.00pm M-F). Buyers can decide how much they can afford for each book but the minimum contribution is $5.00. There is no maximum contribution amount. The public is also invited to donate unwanted counseling, self-help, or children’s books to the collection. The spring session of Children's Aikido Classes are now being offered at Huron Valley Aikikai of Ann Arbor. Our children's class features an engaging combination of exercises, games, and Aikido techniques with the goal of helping kids ages 5-10 to develop their minds and bodies in a fun and structured setting. The first class is free. Classes run Saturday afternoons April 7 to June 30 (10 classes). Parents can participate along with children at no extra charge. Cost includes child's uniform. This group is facilitated by James, a LGBT adoptive parent. As an adoptive parent and member of the LGBT community, he understands the unique questions and concerns you may have.
