It's always fun to stop for quality nibbles at Morgan & York on Packard, especially now that it anchors a veritable market row with Cake Nouveau next door on one side and Morty's Secret Garden on the other (at least in warm weather months... per http://arborweb.com/articles/new_neighbors_on_packard_full_article.html ). And still inside, in a front corner of the wine shop, Nancy Biehn crafts her artsy gourmet Sweet Gem chocolates. In the spirit of fall, she's painted a big treelike branch with chocolate for her front window display, surrounded by candy-colored leaves. If that doesn't put you in the spirit of the season, what will?
While you're there, try one of my favorite cookies in town, the chocolate-dipped choco nib shortbread, in the case on the counter by Morgan & York's front registers. You can taste each grain of salt--the way I like shortbread--plus those mysterious choco nibs...
Meanwhile, I've learned of this old website that celebrates Ann Arbor websites from days gone by: http://arborwiki.org/city/Category:Closed_Restaurants
