The Bird of Paradise Orchestra was founded by Ron Brooks and Harvey Reed. Paul Keller took it over later.
Writer Piotr Michalowski responds:
I talked about this with M. G. Nastos and Lars Bjorn, who both thought that I had it right. I then asked Ron Brooks, and he gave us all a surprise. The real, hitherto unknown story is that the band really started when he and Paul Klinger brought together a largish band--not a full big band--and had three arrangements or so. Then Paul Keller came on board as they moved to full size, and
relatively soon Paul took over.
