Mythlogic opened its downtown store in 2010 after its founding partners, who prefer to remain silent, had spent a geeky decade building computers in their garages. "We wanted to see what kind of revenue we could generate from walk-ins and local downtown service work," says Schreffler, who came into the business last year. ("I was chosen to be the public face because I'm very talkative--the other partners just like to work.")
In the end, he says, it wasn't a successful experiment. "We don't regret being downtown, but it wasn't where our revenues were taking us." With customers spread over twenty countries, it made sense to move to a cheaper, larger warehouse space on Varsity Drive.
"We'll really miss $2 taco Tuesday at Sabor Latino," says Schreffler, "but now we have a kitchen. We just made a run to Costco," he says, opening a sixty-four-ounce jar of mayo to make himself a turkey sandwich. He promised that by September 1, the showroom would be up and running.
