Burglaries up on northwest side

Burglars were hard at work in August, tallying 108 break-ins (including attempts). That was up eighteen from July, and nineteen from August 2008. Much of the increase came on the near northwest side off Miller, where reports rose from just one in July to eleven in August--the start of a rash of B&Es that alarmed neighbors and drew attention from the AAPD and city officials in September.
